Our
Mission
Mercy Missions Atlanta is a Catholic non-profit focused on leading young people to cultivate a personal relationship with Christ and to form them as missionaries to meet the people of Atlanta through meaningful and profound encounters.
Overview
Mercy Missions Atlanta runs missions annually in Downtown Atlanta with components of formation, apostolate, team life, and prayer. Hundreds of high schoolers, college students, and young adults participate in missions every year across the Greater Atlanta Area. Constant partnership with schools, parishes, and nonprofit organizations is key to engaging young people and driving awareness of the mission. Teams consisting of missionaries and team leaders are formed to serve and take to the streets to encounter the people of Atlanta.

Prayer
Prayer is essential for mission because it is the anchor of God’s guidance and grace, in our work, ensuring that every action is rooted in love and humility. It is how missionaries remain focused on their purpose, inviting the Holy Spirit to lead and strengthen them through challenges. It fosters unity and compassion within each missionary, creating a supportive environment where each person is uplifted and equipped to share the love of Christ that they have received through prayer. Ultimately, it transforms the mission from mere service to a powerful witness of the faith of missionaries, and God's presence in the world.

Apostolate
Apostolate is the expression of faith in the world, where missionaries become living witnesses of Christ’s love and message. It involves going beyond personal spirituality to engage directly with communities, addressing their needs, and sharing the love of Christ through words and actions. In this way, Mission itself is the apostolate. Missionaries not only serve others but also grow in their own faith, learning to see Christ in everyone they meet. This outward focus helps build bridges, foster relationships, and spread hope, ultimately making the presence of God tangible in their lives and in the lives of those they encounter.

Team Life
Team life is vital for mission because it creates a strong foundation of fellowship, support, and shared purpose. Serving alongside others with a common goal fosters deep connections and trust, allowing missionaries to rely on one another and work more effectively together. The experience of living, praying, and serving together helps each team member grow both personally and spiritually, as they learn from each other’s strengths and perspectives. This unity and collaboration not only enhance the impact of their service but also serve as a visible sign of God’s love and the power of community to those they encounter.

Formation
Formation is crucial for mission because it equips missionaries with the spiritual, and practical skills necessary for effective service. Through ongoing formation, participants deepen their understanding of faith and learn how to navigate the complexities of ministry. This intentional process helps to foster and develop the virtues essential for living out their mission, enabling missionaries to engage authentically with those they serve. Moreover, a solid formation allows missionaries to articulate their beliefs confidently, fostering deeper connections and trust within the communities they encounter. A strong formation strengthens the collective mission by ensuring that all team members are grounded in a shared vision and commitment to Christ.
